Project Description & Objectives

A group of scientist women will dwell during 2 weeks at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS), emulating Mars’ conditions. This feat will aid us understand the adaptive changes that the human body undergoes under extreme conditions. To do so, genomic studies, metabolomics and physiologic parameters will be measured in the participants to glimpse the stress and exhaustion responses, and monitoring their health status, comparing it with each participant’s basal genetic susceptibility to the conditions mentioned, and finally associating the results with the metabolomic changes before, during and after the mission.
