Enhanced Actigraphy data recording with Garmin wearables now available on the Fitrockr Health Solutions platform.
Fitrockr has integrated the Enhanced Actigraphy data recording from Garmin wearables. This allows researchers and medical experts to record actigraphy data using consumer wearables from Garmin on the Fitrockr platform.
Actigraphy, a non-invasive method of monitoring human rest/activity cycles, utilizes motion-tracking devices worn by the user to gather data on sleep patterns and physical movements throughout the day. Actigraphy is often used in research and clinical settings to study sleep disorders and to assess sleep patterns over time, often over the course of several days or weeks.
The Garmin device contains accelerometers, which detects motion. The data collected can then be analyzed on the Fitrockr Health Solutions platform to determine periods of wakefulness and sleep. This is particularly useful for studying sleep disorders such as insomnia, circadian rhythm sleep disorders, and for monitoring the effectiveness of treatments for these conditions. Additionally, actigraphy is used in the study of physical activity and daytime activity patterns for various populations, contributing valuable data in research areas like epidemiology, psychology, and geriatrics.
Because it is less intrusive and expensive than polysomnography (sleep studies done in a lab), actigraphy is a popular choice for preliminary assessments, for long-term monitoring, and for research where lab studies are impractical.
The Fitrockr Health Solutions platform provides extensive configuration settings for the Actigraphy data collection allowing the adjustment of all relevant parameters.
The integration of actigraphy capabilities into the Fitrockr Health Solutions platform empowers customers to utilize affordable and easy-to-wear wearables to produce the results from a medical-grade actigraphic device.
